You know those sappy Lifetime romances that kind of make you gag? Yeah this isn't one of those. For the life of me, I NEVER thought I would be entertained by a romantic comedy, but this production of Two Lives that occurred around Valentine's day weekend never got old.
This was the first time I stage managed and assistant directed for a play. I was nervous about that, but I know the director and the cast members very well and they are all great talents. So... there really wasn't a lot to worry about in terms of me potentially mucking something up. The play, itself, is based loosely on the real life events of two people meeting, falling in love, and having a family. Nothing I hadn't seen before, but I rarely see it done with this level of charm and charisma. I must have heard these lines delivered 30-40 times. I laughed nearly every time. It made it kind of challenging to remain quiet while back stage for the actual production, but the audience got a real kick out of it, so I was able to snicker and not be audible. I hope this play sees another showing in the near future. It is definitely one to check out.
